12,000 expected for Networld+Interop UK

The Networld+Interop UK show got off to a decent start yesterday without ever looking likely to threaten the dominance of Blenheim's Networks exhibition in Birmingham.

The show was far from packed but stand attendants were relatively happy with the quality and numbers of visitors. "It's not looking like an anoraks' show; most of the visitors seem to have responsibility for spending," said Trevor Dodsworth, senior product manger for Canon's communication products division.

A spokeswoman for show organiser Comdex UK said the firm expected 10-12,000 visitors over the three days of the event.

Next year, Comdex plans a stiffer test for the competition by combining Comdex, Networld+Interop and Expo Comm in a single event under the 'UK Technology Week' banner. The show will take place October 6-8, 1998 in Earls Court, London.
