VoIP lines increased from a total of 3.8 mln in 2003 to 6.5 mln in 2004. By 2008, 26 mln users will have VoIP, according to Telecommunications Industry Association. International telecom spending in 2004 reached a total of $1.4 trillion, up 10.2% over the previous year. The TIA expects the international telecom market to grow at a faster pace than the US market, reaching a yearly total of $2 trillion by 2008.
