Since November, 5.4 mln customers have switched their wireless carriers, but over half of those, about 2.8 mln, jumped to another carrier in the three months from May to July, said FCC. That's compared to the 2.6 mln who moved in the five months between November 2003 and April. There are about 168.5 mln U.S. wireless subscribers. Another 544,000 consumers have moved their home or office telephone number to their wireless phone since last November, the FCC said. Far fewer, about 9,000, have taken their wireless number and moved it to a traditional land-line phone.
