50% of corporate networks have been compromised

A newly-published report from Internet security firm Symantec indicates that the number of online corporate security breaches grew significantly during second half of 2003 from just 1/6 of companies to 1/2. Over the second half of 2003, 43% of worldwide online attacks were worms or blended threats - down from 78% during the second half of 2002.

A newly-published report from Internet security firm Symantec indicates that the number of online corporate security breaches grew significantly during second half of 2003 from just 1/6 of companies to 1/2. Over the second half of 2003, 43% of worldwide online attacks were worms or blended threats - down from 78% during the second half of 2002. Symantec finds that the SQLExp worm, also known as Slammer, accounted for 25% of the Internet attacks that occurred between 1 July and 31 December last year.
