74% of European households to have digital TV by 2009

JupiterResearch asked Europeans regarding their top top reasons to choose digital TV. Only 10% of the users are interested in DVR and video-on-demand services. 24% are excited about better-quality HDTV picture resolution. The number of households in Europe with digital TV will rise from 21% in 2003 to 74% in 2009. This represents 123 mln households, but only a fraction of these will have DVRs and video-on-demand. 10.5 mln homes will have DVRs by 2009 with 5.8 mln households using video-on-demand services. Around 60% of UK households have already made the switch to digital TV.
