8 mln mobile subscribers in Ukraine

Ukrainian mobile operators collectively reported 7,960 thousand subscribers joining the mobile wave. For a country with roughly 50 mln population the penetration level is estimated at 16%. In May the subscriber growth reached 5% month-to-month, while compared to May 2003 Ukrainian mobile market grew 88%. Ukrainian Mobile Communications (UMC) and Kyivstar GSM remain the market leaders with 54.77% and 42.96% market share respectively.
