9% of all 2004 hard drives will go into consumer electronics

Hard drives in the consumer electronics segment represented about 5% of the total hard drive market in 2003. In-Stat/MDR expects this segment to reach over 9% of total worldwide hard drive shipments in 2004. This segment represents a variety of opportunities for storage companies, with shipments of CE with integrated hard drives expected to grow from about 12.5 mln in 2003 to over 163 mln in 2008, representing a very attractive 67.1% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) over the 2003-2008 period.
