Hewlett-Packard Singapore has announced that SAP and BEA have joined its 5nines:5minutes alliance, which extends beyond the server to provide customers with end-to-end high availability solutions. The alliance is key to HP’s success in delivering on the e-service initiative announced last May by providing high available IT infrastructures that reduce the impact of failure in any link of the availability chain, including the hardware, operating system, database, application and network.
SAP and BEA join existing alliance members Oracle, Cisco and EMC to effectively strengthen their end-to-end high-availability solutions that integrate and optimize products, services and support. The 5nines:5minutes alliance solutions save customers time in deploying their own solutions and increase their confidence in maintaining and managing the level of availability required by their businesses.

Today’s announcement to expand the breadth of HP’s 5nines:5minutes alliance includes the following:
In the first alliance of its kind, HP and SAP are developing highly available infrastructures to meet HP and SAP customers ‘ increasing demand for higher levels of availability. This collaboration will deliver solutions that address all aspects of building, managing and maintaining a highly available environment, including technology, support and IT processes. Some of the first deliverables include HP Somersault for SAP R/3, a turn-key solution that improves availability by eliminating the R/3 Enqueue Service as a single point of failure; HP MC/ServiceGuard Extension for SAP, a solution that complements HP Somersault and reduces both planned and unplanned downtime; HP High-availability Solutions for the SAP Business Technology Map, illustrating high-availability products, services and support solutions available from HP and SAP; and certification of SAP on the current 99.95 percent solutions from the 5nines:5minutes alliance.
BEA is integrating its industry-leading transaction monitor, BEA TUXEDO, into HP’s 5nines:5minutes solutions. BEA TUXEDO is a key component of the solutions being developed for customers requiring highly available infrastructures to support e-commerce applications. As a first step, HP and BEA today announced the integration of BEA TUXEDO into the 99.999 percent solution, improving the high-availability elements of BEA TUXEDO; the companies also announced the joint development of a BEA TUXEDO SMART Plug-in for HP Openview. HP also announced new mission-critical support services for BEA products, which will be provided by HP’s new e-services support center.
HP also announced new HP Openview management solutions, the solution for 5nines:5minutes, for coverage of this high-availability environment via integration with the BEA TUXEDO SMART Plug-in for HP Openview; HP’s SMART plug-in for Oracle 8i; integration with the Oracle Enterprise Manager, which manages Oracle’s Own Oracle Parallel Server; and a smart linkage to CiscoWorks for switch and router management. Future planned environments include a SMART Plug-in capability for the HP XP256 high-availability storage platform.
