Intel is developing a new memory type to speed graphics performance on next-generation PCs.

The CPU giant has licensed Rambus DRAM (RDRAM) and will create a new memory type, called nDRAM, in a bid to drive system performance forward. nDRAM is expected to run at faster than 100MHz but systems sporting the speedy memory aren't expected until 1999.

nDRAM could be used in combination with Intel's accelerated graphics port (AGP), a fast architecture that will show up on 1997 PCs.
