Akamai delivered strong fourth quarter results as its application performance and security business starts to reach parity with its core content delivery unit.
The company reported fourth quarter earnings of $97 million, or 54 cents a share, on revenue of $536 million, up 23 percent from a year ago. Non-GAAP earnings in the fourth quarter was 70 cents a share.
Wall Street was looking for fourth quarter earnings of 63 cents a share on revenue of $526.8 million.
For 2014, Akamai reported earnings of $334 million, or $1.84 a share, on revenue of $1.96 billion, up 24 percent from a year ago.
In a statement, CEO Tom Leighton said the company delivered strong results around the world. Meanwhile, the company's security and media products performed well.
As for 2015, Akamai said it will continue to build out its network, hire sales people and boost its channel.
The company ended the quarter with 5,105 employees and 170,295 deployed servers.
