Though only 6 percent of you said in our poll that you plan to shop at Amazon.com for an HDTV on Black Friday, I still thought I should point out the deals that the online retailing giant is offering. Unlike many of the other stores' Black Friday specials, Amazon has a few Panasonic plasmas on saleall from the 1080p G10 series, which is THX certified for automatically producing the best image quality regardless of source material and offers VieraCast, Panasonic's version of connected TV with online services like Amazon Video On Demand.
The 42-inch TC-P42G10 is $916.42, the 46-inch TC-P46G10 is $1,087.99, and the 50-inch TC-P50G10 is $1,123.88; all ship for free. If you do some quick comparison shopping, these may not always be outrageously incredible dealsfor instance, you can get a TC-P42G10 for $909.98 with free shipping from OneCall. But Amazon sweetens the deal by offering a free TiVo TCD652160 HD digital video recorder with your purchase through December 5. (Then again, you'll need to subscribe to TiVo's service to maximize your use of the "freebie.")
If you're fine with a 720p plasma, Amazon has the Samsung PN42B400 for $549.99, a dollar more than through Wal-Mart, but again with free shipping. For those who want an LCD instead, there are a pair of Samsung 1080p sets: the 46-inch LN46B500 for $847.99 and the 52-inch LN52B530 for $1,299.99. They both have 60Hz refresh rates, but if you want to make the (dubiously useful) jump to 240Hz, there's the LG 37LH55, a 37-inch 1080p LCD for $847.97.
Finally, there are a couple of Samsung Blu-ray players at special Black Friday prices. The BD-P160 is available for $149.99, while the BD-P4600 is $279.99. Both let you stream from Netflix and Pandora, though the pricier player has Wi-Fi rather than just an Ethernet port. It's also sleekly designed, though it's not that much of a dealBuy.com offers the unit for the same price and matches the free shipping offer. If nothing else, the Amazon deals mean you don't have to go stand in line at 3 a.m. on Black Friday morning.
