Americans send 2.5 bln text messages a month

According to Forrester Research, Americans sent 2.5 bln text messages a month in mid-2004, triple the number sent in mid-2002. Verizon Wireless, with 42 mln customers, reported a fivefold increase in the number of text messages sent and received monthly, to almost one bln in the fall from 200 mln in early 2003.
