Apple's App Store sets new records in July
July was a banner month for the App Store, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced via Twitter on Wednesday:
July was a record-breaker for the @AppStore! Highest-ever monthly billings and money paid to developers.

.@AppStore developers have now earned over $50 billion! Congratulations on your success and such inspired creativity.

Cook probably has Pokemon Go to thank in large part. The mobile game was downloaded more times in its first week than any other app in history, and financial firm Needham estimated Pokémon Go could add $3 billion to Apple's sales over one to two years.
At Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year, Cook stressed the importance of developers on the App Store, saying in the keynote, "Successful developers translates to us having the best apps on our platform." He noted that there were two million apps on the App Store, which have been downloaded 130 billion times.
