Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) PC market totaled 10.9 mln units in Q3 2005, representing a QTQ growth of 11% and YTY growth of 19%. Notebook shipments for the region grew by an astonishing 54% YTY, while desktop PCs only grew by 12% over the same period. India recorded the strongest YTY growth among the countries at about 167%, although this was largely due to its small base in Q3 2004. All of the other countries also recorded growth in their notebook shipments from the previous quarter, except for Australia and Indonesia, which experienced slight sequential drops. Lenovo widened its lead on runner-up HP, as its total PC shipments surged 22% over the previous quarter compared to the latter's 14%. Meanwhile, the rest of the top 5 PC vendors, Dell, Founder, and Acer, recorded robust double-digit annual growth rates, IDC reports.
