This isn't the first time that Asus has teamed up with the luxury car brand. Remember the Lamborghini Eee PC VX6 notebook? That laptop had some standard specs with a high price tag. (Although the Bang & Olufsen ICEPower audio and SRS Premium surround sound were nice touches).
That seems to be the case here too - not the high-end audio technologies but the exorbitant price tag. The specs are run-of-the-mill for a regular portable drive: 2.5-inch hard disk drives, compatibility with Windows, plug-and-play operations, and one-click backup functions.
Pricing starts at $119 for the 500GB capacity and jumps to $139 for 700GB of HDD space. That's for the USB 2.0-specific versions. If you want USB 3.0 transfer speeds, the price will surely escalate once announced.
However, these Lamborghini drives are definitely more attractive than the standard external HDD box. But if design is key to your purchase, there are plenty of other portable hard drives on the market from other manufacturers that will reveal your personal style for a better deal.
