Jeff Olsson, the executive in charge of technology for the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), is set to leave the company in July, it was announced today.

Ending a 15-year career with the ASX, Olsson was congratulated for his contributions to the organisation by managing director and CEO Elmer Funke Kupper.

According to Kupper, Olsson is staying around until July in order to complete the delivery of the company's new datacentre set to be opened in February.

Olsson has had his fair share of hiccups in the last 12 months with the ASX, as two separate outages in 2011 had the effect of grounding the country's markets to a standstill.

The ASX told ZDNet Australia that Olsson made the decision to move on from the company on his own, adding that there was nothing to read between the lines in this instance.

The ASX will begin its search for Olsson's replacement this month.
