Hey it's Friday and I felt like getting in to a geeky mood. This might be a bit late but if any of you guys or gals still want to sign up for a GameSpot (sister division of ZDNet and TechRepublic) Counter-Strike: Source tournament, there are still some empty waiting list slots. If you haven't gotten enough out of flaming me in the talkback, here's a good chance to frag me instead. I've signed on for Team 27 and will be trying my rusty mouse on Tuesday at noon on the GameSpot servers. The finalists will get an air plane ticket to San Francisco GameSpot head quarters to battle it out on Tournament TV.
[UPDATED 8/19: Photo removed because some people found the image of me holding a toy gun offensive. It wasn't really a great a photo either so I axed it. My apologies to anyone offended.] No this is not a real FAMAS assault riffle, it's a toy pellet gun and I painted the neon orange muzzle black with Paint.net. It generally isn't wise to paint the real pellet gun's muzzle black because one might end up being mistaken for possessing the real thing. The FAMAS is one of the weapons rarely used in Counter-Strike: Source, but it's my weapon of choice. As for the toy pellet gun, I saw it on sale for $20 at my local computer super store and thought it would be a great gag. It turns out the thing is actually pretty accurate and can hit a quarter from 100 feet when the sights are properly calibrated.
As for my mouse precision, well they're pretty rusty and FPS (First Person Shooter) games aren't quite as forgiving to slow reaction times as role playing games like World Of War craft are.
