Five-year deal with LogicaCMG

Airport group BAA, which owns seven UK airports including Heathrow, is outsourcing its software application management to India with LogicaCMG.

Under the five-year deal LogicaCMG will deliver the outsourced services through a "blended" onshore/ offshore model using its shared services centre in Bangalore.

The outsourcer will manage more than 400 applications, ranging from aircraft stand allocation and staff rostering to BAA's Oracle Enterprise Suite.

Around 50 BAA tech staff will transfer to LogicaCMG as part of the deal.

Richard Rundle, BAA IT Director, said LogicaCMG will become part of the company's multi-vendor strategy.

He said in a statement: "Through this contract BAA will be able to achieve a more consistent approach to its IT services and applications across the business. It will allow us to manage our applications at an optimal cost, whilst maintaining strong service levels."

The contract became operational last month.
