Do you like the idea of self-tying laces? One Nike designer says we will see the famous Back to the Future II shoes on our shelves next year.
According to Sole Collector, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, the creator of the majority of the Air Jordan series, made an announcement at the Jordan Brand's Flight Lab space in New Orleans over the weekend, saying:
"Are we gonna see power laces in 2015? To that, I say YES!"
The futuristic laces -- which are self-tying -- were missing from the limited edition Nike MAG run based on the film in 2011. Only 1,500 pairs of Marty McFly's iconic shoes were manufactured in the name of charity, and nearly $6 million was raised for Parkinson's Research.
Where were the power laces? In 2011, Hatfield said the technology simply wasn't there, but promised results by 2015.
It is not yet known whether the power laces will appear as part of a new MAG series or on a new Nike range altogether, but they are likely to appeal to the Back to the Future fans among us.
