Bank of Korea & watchdog to check leap year computer problems

Seoul, Feb 28 (Asia Pulse) - The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) and the Bank of Korea will conduct overnight checks Monday night on possible computer glitches related to the leap year that may occur Tuesday, Feb. 29.

"We anticipate no major problems as checks for the leap year problem were already done early this year but the emergency office will operate for overnight final checks just in case," an FSS official said. Three officials of the central bank and five from the FSS will conduct overnight examinations on computers at financial institutions Monday night, though all institutions have already completed preparations on the matter. The officials will announce "normal" Tuesday morning after receiving reports from each financial institution.
