While the biggest news from Best Buy's 2014 Black Friday ad is, we're also seeing the first sales on Macs. There are plenty of other laptop deals, along with some desktop specials.
In terms of Apple computers, the base 11-inchwill run $779.99, or $120 off as a Friday morning doorbuster (rather than a Thanksgiving evening one), while the 13-inch Air with 256GB SSD is priced at $1,049.99, or $150 less than the regular price. The cheapest MacBook Pro, the non-Retina version, is going to be $200 less at $899.99 as a doorbuster, whereas the mid-level with 256GB SSD will run $1,349.99, or $150 off. If you are in the market for an iMac instead, you can grab for $200 off ($899.99) as a doorbuster or $150 off the base 27-inch model ($1,649.99).
The one Windows laptop early doorbuster is a 15.6-inch Dell Inspiron with Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 500GB hard drive for $299.99. Unfortunately for Dell, that's about $80 cheaper than an equivalent Inspiron, though you won't have to get in line before the store opens on Thanksgiving to earn that additional savings like you will through Best Buy.
Convertible laptops, hybrid tablets, 2-in-1 devices, or whatever you want to call them look like they will be an increasingly popular segment of the mobile computing market, and Best Buy has a handful of deals on these versatile notebooks. At the low end,includes an Intel Celeron processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and 11.6-inch detachable screen, but you're only getting a $20 price cut for it at $329.99.
Other 2-in-1 devices are pricier, but they are all $200 off Best Buy's regular price. These are the 15.6-inch HP Envy x360 (Core i5-4210U Haswell processor, 8GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, 1080p HD screen) for $599.99, a 15.6-inch Radius (Core i7-4510U CPU, 8 gigs of RAM, terabyte hard drive 1080p HD screen) for $699.99, and the(Core i7-4510U processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, 13.3-inch display with 3,200x1,800 resolution) for $999.99.
Specials on conventional Windows laptops include a pair of HP Pavilions, both $100 off: a 17.3-inch notebook with Core i5-4210U chip, 4GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, and DVD burner for $399.99, and a 15.6-inch system with Core i7-4510UCPU,6GB of RAM, 750GB hard drive, and DVD burner for $549.99. Best Buy is taking $200 off the regularly $699.99 HP Envy 15.6-inch touchscreen with Core i5-4210M processor, 8GB of RAM, and 750GB hard drive, but no optical drive.
If you're looking for a Chromebook -- and an increasing number of you are -- an Acer 11.6-inch value with an Intel Celeron CPU, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of solid-state storage will be just $149. The Best Buy ad says that's $50 off the regular price, but its site has it on sale for $179 right now.
In addition the iMac, the retailer has a handful of desktops as part of its Black Friday deals, including another pair of all-in-ones. For $369.99, or $180 off the regular price, there's a 21.5-inch HP system that is powered by an AMD E1-6010 processor and comes with 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and touchscreen capabilities. The bigger, more powerful Acer Aspire 23-inch all-in-one uses a Core i3-4130T processor, 8 gigs of RAM, 1TB hard drive, DVD burner and features a 1080p HD touchscreen for $649.99, or $100 off the current online price.
In terms of traditional towers, there are a trio of deals, including the option to grab a monitor for your choice of two of them in a combo package. Cheapest is a fairly bare-bones Lenovo for $219.99 (just $10 less than the current online price) with a Celeron J1800 processor, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and DVD burner. Stepping up to the HP 110-a04 will set you back $379.99 (albeit $120 off the regular price), but you get a Core i3-4130 CPU and double the RAM and hard drive space. You can get a 20-inch monitor with it for a total price of $449.98. Finally, a Dell Inspiron desktop costs another $50 ($170 less than the current $599.99 price) to graduate to a Core i5-4460 with the same amount of RAM and hard drive capacity as the HP. It also includes Windows 7 rather than Windows 8.1 if you prefer the older OS, and Best Buy bundles it with a 24-inch monitor for $499.98.
