Blue.Dot - a programme that helps portals and IT companies build e-business solutions - has been introduced by IBM Malaysia in efforts to groom a bigger number of e-commerce players in the marketplace.

KUALA LUMPUR (Maxis Net) - IBM provides them with hardware, software and the required technology, but the statement did not say if purchase of IBM equipment or solutions are made compulsory. Likening it to providing 'baby steps' to these upcoming companies, IBM Malaysia's senior manager Chin Siew Siew said purchases will be given discounts.

Amongst those that are already in the programme are e-go.com (financial vortal), www.gomoney3.com (financial adviser), and 800easypay.com (e-commerce service provider on online bills presentment).

The Blue-Dot programme falls under the corporation's Small Business Programme, designed to enable the effective use of world-class technologies for a variety of daily business applications. It was introduced in 1999.
