Biggest ever Web credit card theft?

Have cyberthieves stolen over three million credit card details from Egghead.com?
Written by Graeme Wearden, Contributor

US online mega-retailer Egghead.com admitted Friday it had been hacked, in what could be the Internet's largest ever credit card heist.

Egghead told ZDNet US that its servers had been hacked by network intruders, and that an unknown number of credit cards details may have been lost.

Sources in the credit card industry have told ZDNet US News that up to 3.7 million credit card numbers may have been stolen.

If this is correct, it would represent by far the largest Internet credit-card theft ever.
