On Friday Mary Jo Foley posted about a Microsoft blogger who had given a semi-detailed roadmap for the release of Silverlight 2. According to Ashish, the timetable is as follows:

We are targeting late Summer
Here is a rough timeline:
Silverlight 2.0 Beta 1 (Q1CY08 with limited (non commercial) Go-Live)
Silverlight 2.0 Beta 2 (Q2CY08 with Go-Live)
Silverlight 2.0 RTM (Summer 2008) – Exact timing TBD
Silverlight v.next – We are working on a v.Next plan and have nothing to announce at this time
Silverlight for mobile – No date available

That pretty much jives with what I heard on the streets of Seattle about an August 2008 release. There is also a lot of other good info from Ashish's post. It sounds like all of the 1.0 content will be fully backwards compatible with Silverlight 2 so no code changes will be needed. It's also going to support 'Isolated Storage' which seems similar to shared objects in Flash and allow you to store bits of information on the users machine.
