BMC acquires Aeroprise, bolsters mobile helpdesk efforts

BMC Software is acquiring Aeroprise, a partner that built the most widely adopted mobile application for Remedy IT service management software.

BMC Software on Thursday said it was acquiring Aeroprise, a partner that built the most widely adopted mobile application for Remedy IT service management software.

The acquisition is a bit of a no-brainer for BMC. BMC's Remedy software is widely adopted and delivered both on-demand and on-premise. The mobility part of the equation will also become increasingly important. Aeroprise specialized in applications that allow IT staff to monitor operations from multiple devices.

Aeroprise's software will become BMC Mobility for IT Service Management. BMC's Remedy software will now have support for Apple's iPhone and iPad, RIM's BlackBerry, Android and Windows Mobile devices. BMC's Mobility software will be preconfigured with applications for service desk, change, asset, service catalog and request management.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
