Apple tablet takes to the clouds...
British Airways has begun issuing Apple iPads to its cabin crew.
The airline has given the iPad 2 to 100 of its senior cabin crew and is aiming to provide the tablets to 1,800 of its senior cabin crew by the end of the year.
Cabin crew will use the iPads to wirelessly access information on passengers and their travel preferences, flight timetables and safety manuals.
The tablet will replace paper passenger lists that they cabin crew currently rely on.
They will also be able to use the iPads to immediately notify ground staff about issues, such as a passenger's vegetarian meal not being loaded onto the plane.
Apple iPads are proving popular elsewhere in the service industry, with InterContinental Hotels recently issuing iPads to its concierge teams.
