If you're reading this blog you've no doubt heard of the 80's brick phone. Actually, in most cases you probably had one of your own.
If you're not familiar with what I'm talking about, take a look at many 80's television shows, the movie Wall Street, and others to see how magical this phone was. It was the early mobile phone and it was affectionately called the "Brick Phone" or "Brick".
To that end, it's iconic and a couple of years ago I managed to get my hands on one--sans battery. It still turns heads, and is a great showpiece when I do presentations. Unfortunately, it's no longer functional. Enter the Bluetooth 80's Brick Phone. Indiegogo is currently running a campaign for an inventor that's trying to bring the 80's Brick Phone back.
In this iteration, Brad Helmink, the inventor, has created a bluetooth headset in the shape of a Brick Phone that pairs to any Bluetooth capable phone, and makes it appear that you are talking on and using an 80's "Brick". The campaign is set at $55,000 and as of this writing it has 26 days to go, and more than $50k to raise.
There are a bunch of ways of getting into the funding action, with US$45 getting you your very own 80's Brick Phone.
Check out the video below which talks about the campaign and click on the campaign link to help make the 80's Bluetooth Brick Phone a reality. You can also read more about the campaign at 80sbrickphone.com.
