Buying a new appliance? Check out this site to see if you are eligible for an energy-efficiency rebate

New Web site helps consumers find rebates or other incentives that might receive for buying certain Energy Star appliances.

There's a new information resource out called EcoRebates.com that is designed to help consumers navigate the maze of potential rebates that could be associated with updating their appliances to Energy Star editions. Apparently, you can snag rebates of anywhere from $25 to $1,000, depending on the appliance. We're talking about anything from refrigerators and freezers to dishwashers and clothes washers to furnaces and air-conditioners.

The site is organized with a graphic that lets you click on your state. For example, when I selected my home state (New Jersey), I discovered that the Department of Energy has designated more than $8 million to the Garden State for a number of programs, including COOLAdvantage and WARMAdvantage. The incentives actually began to kick in this month, which is great because I am about to remodel my kitchen. Doesn't everyone love found money?

The site also includes another very important component: information on whether or not recycling of the old stuff is required.
