CA Technologies on Monday named Otto Berkes chief technology officer. Berkes had been CTO of HBO and was one of the four co-founders of Xbox while at Microsoft.
Berkes' consumer chops---he was responsible for HBO Go as well as media production and internal systems---will be an interesting mix with CA's enterprise focus on application management and development.
According to CA, Berkes will report to CEO Mike Gregoire. Gregoire said that Berkes will bring engineering chops and a focus on the customer experience to CA.
Before landing at HBO, Berkes spent 18 years at Microsoft and was everything from a software developer to a general manager. He led DirectX and OpenGL graphics technology. Berkes was also involved with Microsoft Research and worked on mobile architecture and user interfaces.
