LAS VEGAS -- Orb is expanding its growing network of Internet-connected multimedia with the introduction of Orb BR (Blu-ray) software.
Orb BR works much like the Orb TV in the sense that it brings online programming from sites such as Hulu and YouTube to Internet-enabled Blu-ray players and Sony PlayStation 3 consoles, and it can be managed from a smartphone app on an iOS or Android device as well as computers. Users can also stream personal music, photos and videos directly from computers and other devices on the same home Wi-Fi network.
No hardware is required, but users have to install three programs on three devices: the Orb BR CD in the Blu-ray disc, Orb Caster software on a PC/Mac (free) and the smartphone app (free). Orb BR supports HD playback at 720p and 1080p resolutions.
Orb BR will be available for purchase in late February for $19.99.
