Check Point Drops Sourcefire

Check Point has had second thoughts about its acquisition of Sourcefire which was being questioned by the feds. I blogged before that there was no grounds for the administration to question this acquisition but that Check Point should use this as an excuse to back away from the deal .

Check Point has had second thoughts about its acquisition of Sourcefire which was being questioned by the feds. I blogged before that there was no grounds for the administration to question this acquisition but that Check Point should use this as an excuse to back away from the deal . So I for one am a happy camper today.  I think the folks at Sourcefire should be happy too. Although obviously it is dissapointing to miss an end-game opportunity, in the long run it would not have worked well.  Now Sourcefire has an established market value and they can proceed to develop innovative products (check out RNA) on their own.
