SINGAPORE - Check Point Software Technologies today announced that a new IDC report shows it has increased its market share in the worldwide firewall market and has remained the leader for the fourth consecutive year. IDC's "Internet Security Software Market Forecast and Analysis, 2000-2004" report gives Check Point a 41 percent market share in the firewall software category - an increase of nearly ten points over last year.
Check Point's flagship FireWall-1R enterprise security software is a key component of the company's Secure Virtual Network (SVN) architecture - a platform for Internet security that integrates firewalls, VPNs, large-scale management and open integration with products from the more than 270 companies in Check Point's Open Platform for Security (OPSEC*) partnership program.
"Once again, we see Check Point holding the strong leadership position in the firewall security software market," said Chris Christiansen, vice president of IDC's Internet Security and Infrastructure Software programs. "The firewall market, and the Internet security market as a whole, has tremendous growth potential, and Check Point is uniquely positioned to continue to capitalize on this growth."
