Cisco routers aim to speed mobile services
The networking specialist has unveiled a series of wireless routers designed to deliver fast mobile, video and data services, and to speed IPv6 migrations
Cisco rolled out a new set of routers on Monday designed to allow wireless carriers to deploy mobile services more easily.
Cisco's latest wireless effort is called the Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services Routers Systems. The idea behind the collective platform is to allow carriers to deliver faster mobile, video and data services, and to speed up IPv6 migrations.
Specifically, Cisco introduced three wireless service provider offerings: ASR 901, a cell site router designed for 2G, 3G and 4G services; ASR 903, an Ethernet access router for mobile applications; and ASR 9001, a smaller version of the ASR 9000 edge router.
