Cisco will drive home its network market leadership in the face of the 3Com and US Robotics merger, with the launch of its CiscoBlue strategy at next week's CeBit '97.

Aimed primarily at IBM mainframe and AS/400 users, CiscoBlue will include two products that will, according to the company, "take the leadership position with IBM customers."

WebAccess/390 is being launched in conjunction with OpenConnect Systems (OCS) and will include two tools. The tools are OC://WebConnect which provides connectivity from a Web browser to a mainframe or mid-range host, and OpenVista, an application that converts a standard green and black screen into a 'Web-looking' screen without changing the SNA application.

Cisco will also be launching, together with Interlink Computer Services, Cisco IOS for System/390. This will provide support for TCP/IP and Web applications on the mainframe.
