Cloud.com has released an upgrade of its open source IaaS cloud platform with enhanced interface, networking, scalability, interoperability and storage features.

CloudStack 2.2., which became available March 15, is a hybrid cloud solution that is hypervisor agnostic and ships with support for VMware vSphere 4, Citrix XenServer 5.6 and the open source Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) running simultaneously in a single cloud, the company announced.

Its enhanced Ajax interface allows for managing thousands of virtual machines and features roles-based delegation to enable self service and flexibility while enforcing corporate policies.

Cloud.com and its open source platform was first launched last May.

Cloud.com's open source IaaS cloud solution allows enterprise customers to deploy a secure hybrid private/public cloud platform. For example, the new CloudBridge feature allows for applications running on Cloud.com to interoperate with Amazon EC2 and S3 APIs as well as the forthcoming OpenStack API.

Version 2.2 also offers enhanced scalability, including support for clouds that span multiple data centers and the ability to manage geographically dispersed zones from a single console.

In order to integrate with a physical or virtual networking infrastructure, version 2.2 offers expanded networking support including embedded software-based network management and VLAN and Direct Attach IP.
