Compaq has been forced to recall 1.4 million power adapters for its notebooks after five of them caught fire. Compaq said none of the incidents had caused personal injury or property damage but it had decided to recall the products to ensure the safety of customers. It was unable to confirm how much the recall will cost it, and has pledged to give every affected customer a replacement adapter. The problem effects AC power adapters with the model series numbers PPP003SD, PPP003 and PP2012 supplied with the following notebook models: Armada models: M300, M700, E500, 110, E500s, V300, 100s, 3500Prosignia models: 170, 190
