Compaq and CCH partner to develop e-commerce portals, services for Asia

SINGAPORE, March 28, 2000 - Compaq Computer Asia Pacific and CCH Asia today announced an agreement to partner to deliver eCommerce Portals for the Asia Pacific region.

The agreement, which is signed in Singapore, will see CCH developing regional business exchange portals between their traditional professional advisors market and international businesses (including SMEs and large enterprises).

Compaq will provide the highly scalable platforms and services, which needed to launch and run portals of this nature.
Both companies will promote the new portals services to drive adoption.

Mr Mark Manners, Director of eCommerce and Service Providers, Nonstop Solutions Division, Enterprise Solutions and Service Group, Compaq Computer Asia Pacific said, "CCH is driving a new era of eCommerce in the region, with high value online content aimed at the business community, and combined with applications to provide a complete online ecosystem. Because of Compaq’s capability in providing in the right platforms and its extensive reach into the Asian enterprise market, we will be able to help drive a lot of business towards CCH's way."

Mr Andrew James, CCH’s Director of eCommerce said the partnership with Compaq will enable CCH to concentrate on building its ebusiness and providing a comprehensive range of new services. "Compaq NonStop eBusiness solutions mean we can scale quickly for the explosive Internet growth and drive our service offerings even higher - it’s the only way to dominate on the net," he added.

As part of the agreement, CCH will also be working with Compaq to provide content aggregation services to Compaq’s banking and service provider customers. "We are first and foremost a content company, and while the Internet changes the delivery channel and partners, quality content is what the business market needs to make their decisions. This partnership with Compaq allows us to implement a regional content management strategy from our eCommerce hub in Singapore. The economies of scale are good," said Mr Andrew Mitrega, CCH Asia’s Managing Director.

Mr Manners added, "We work with many of the banks and service providers in the region in developing and building their portal infrastructure. As part of an end to end solution, we can now offer them the content to wrap their core functions with an integral component to their Internet strategy. It is all part of Compaq's focus in providing NonStop eBusiness Solutions with the best partners."

The agreement covers Asia and will see both companies actively marketing their combined Internet solutions to enterprise customers.
