Consumers spent $190 bln on entertainment in 2004, will spend $203 bln in 2005

30 mln US households have broadband connections, 22 mln each have digital cable or direct-broadcast satellite (DBS) television service, nearly 17 mln households have data networking solutions, and more than 40 mln households have DVD players, according to Parks Associates. Consumer electronics and home computer equipment (including related accessories and peripherals); consumer expenditures for movies, music (CDs and downloads); and monthly pay television subscription revenues, total revenues for consumer entertainment totaled nearly $200 mln in 2003. Parks Associates' projections to 2009 indicate that consumers will increase this spending by approximately 50%.
