CSC buys enterprise cloud orchestration platform

The acquisition will enable the global systems integrator to automate and manage enterprise applications and services across cloud and on-premises environments.

Global systems integrator CSC recently signed a definitive agreement to acquire ServiceMesh, which has developed an enterprise cloud management platform that can be used to automate and manage enterprise applications and services across hybrid infrastructure.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but CSC plans to use the technology as part of its enterprise cloud migration services.

"With ServiceMesh, we will empower an ecosystem of enterprise software providers by lowering the friction for companies to execute a multi-vendor hybrid cloud strategy while maintaining central governance, policy and adminstration," said Dan Hushon, chief technology officer at CSC.

The ServiceMesh Agility Platform, which works across public, private and hybrid cloud environments, has been deployed at some pretty big accounts in financial services, healthcare and other regulated industries -- although the company doesn't disclose which companies.

CSC has been pushing aggressively into cloud services, and it has create a number of secure cloud services of its own for security-sensitive businesses. Those offerings include CSC CloudCompute, CSC BizCloud and CSC BizCloud VPE.

Existing ServiceMesh customers will gain access to CSC's services teams and consultants, in order to refine and evolve their deployments.

The transaction is scheduled to close before the end of the third quarter of CSC's fiscal year 2014 (at the end of calendar year 2013).
