Queensland-based IT services provider Data#3 is predicting a decline in profit, citing economic uncertainty that are leading to delays in IT projects.

The company reported that it expects a pre-tax profit, for the 2012 financial year to June 30, of between $18.5 million and $19.5 million — down from $21.2 million in the last financial year.

Data #3 managing director John Grant said it was a good result amid tough economic conditions.

"This is a very solid result, considering the difficult economic environment and the resulting tendency for our customers to delay major IT projects," he said in a statement.

He also said that 2011 was a particularly strong year for the company, and the slight decline in profit will not change the firm's long-term growth trend.

In March, the Department of Finance and Deregulation appointed Data#3 as the whole-of-government reseller of Microsoft products.
