Database market shares: Oracle - 40%, IBM - 31%, Microsoft - 12.1%

The report, published by IDC, found that Oracle's share grew 8.6%, giving the company nearly 40% of the market for relational and object-relational database management systems. IBM's share grew 5.5% to 31% of the total market, while Microsoft's share grew 14.7% to represent 12.1% of the database market.
