Dell (2) - UK adds polish to Dell numbers

Dell's sparkling numbers are getting a healthy polish from international contributions and the UK is leading the way.

Dell's European revenues were up 34 per cent year on year to $618 million in the fourth quarter and annual sales passed $2 billion for the first time despite the collapse in the German market.

Dell UK remains the biggest of Dell's European business units. UK managing director Mike Newton said Dell UK notebook sales nearly doubled year on year and claimed servers are continuing to rocket. Newton also played down rumours that Dell is buying market share via wafer-thin margins: "It's nonsense. I'm making very decent profits but what are decent profits to Dell may not be to companies like Compaq."
