Dell cheers Wall Street yet again

The superlatives are running out for Dell as the direct seller confirmed its position of Wall Street darling by notching up its fourteenth consecutive quarter of record revenues.

Revenues for the May-July quarter passed $2.8 billion, up 67 per cent on the year-ago quarter. Profit leapt 108 per cent to $214 million.

As other PC makers struggle, Dell reckons its growth is quadruple the industry average. Even in Europe, which has been something of a graveyard recently, Dell impressed with $620 million in revenues, up 42 per cent. The UK unit, Dell's biggest in the continent, grew 37 per cent and France, traditionally a tough market for direct sellers, grew 46 per cent.
