More North Americans are using the Mac operating system than Linux as their development environment, according to a survey conducted by Evans Data.
The North American Development Survey found that while Mac operating systems overtook Linux in popularity, Windows continues to be the most popular operating system, with 80 percent of respondents using it as their development environment. Mac operating systems came in at 7.9 percent, while Linux took a 5.6-percent market share.
"Windows firmly remains king, but developers are obviously attracted to Apple's devices, while at the same time Linux has lost some of its lustre," said Evans Data's chief executive Janel Garvin.
