Devotec has revamped the Solar Sound 2 portable speakers, ready for a relaunch today with improved sound quality and additional connectivity options.

The Solar Sound 2 speaker system can blast music from your media player wireless via Bluetooth while charging up the battery from a solar panel on the back side. That battery should last longer with the new version as Devotec packed a larger one in there, boosting the battery life to 5-10 hours, depending on the volume level. But if the lack of sun is a problem or you're planning to tote this speaker set around on a summer vacation, there is an AC-DC plug and charging cable.

Devotec really seems to have gone back to the drawing board when it comes to sound. Updates include improvements to the sound quality with the use of silver-plated, oxygen-free copper speaker cabling plus specialty-woven speaker cones. The Solar Sound 2 also allows for a higher max volume level and should produce less distortion at louder volume levels. Aside from wireless connections to Bluetooth-enabled devices, the updated Solar Sound 2 has an integrated line-out function, and it can send music to headphones with the 3.5mm jack. The headphone feature seems a little unnecessary (why not plug into the device directly then?), but it's always nice to have options.

The Solar Sound 2 is available now for $99.99 in the US and £69.99 in the UK.
