The Department of Homeland Security today announed two new programs for how DHS acquires technology, one for services and one for commodities, according to a DHS press release. “These programs, when fully in place, will satisfy the vast majority of DHS information task requirements,” said press officer Scott Charbo. “The programs are designed to meet the goal of one IT infrastructure, and will run out of the Enterprise Solutions Office, a joint program office, under the IT Acquisition Center.” The programs follow the guidelines of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and will consist of multiple contracts to both large and small businesses. The department will issue two requests for proposals (RFPs) on the programs within the next few weeks, the release said.
