Diamond stalks Matrox with Stealth 3D speed
Diamond Multimedia Systems has added the Stealth 3D 2000 Pro graphics accelerator series to its Stealth range, claiming it is 20 per cent faster than Matrox's MGA Millenium card in 2D graphics.
Diamond has released comparison figures with its leading competitors that puts the Stealth 3D card at the top of the pile in both WinBench 97 (business graphics) statistics and in WinMark 97 scores. The company claims to have a WinMark score of 70.1 compared with Matrox's 59.0.
With 2Mb or 4Mb of EDO DRAM, the Stealth 3D provides 3D rendering, digital video playback and fast 2D graphics acceleration. Aimed at computer entertainment and Internet multimedia users, the card costs £99 for 2Mb and £159 for 4Mb, excl. VAT.
