Digital Lumens updates LED lighting management platform

Web-based software dashboard helps facility managers assess the potential impact of settings changes or daylight harvesting applications.

Attention facilities managers: Industrial lighting technology company Digital Lumens has updated the reporting and planning features of its LightRules lighting management dashboard to make you look smarter.

The features are intended to help companies justify investments in new lighting technologies when faced with replacing old lights and to help figure out the effect that operational policy or behavior changes might have on energy costs related to lighting.

Specific features in LightRules 2.0 include:

  • "What-if" scenario wizards to gauge the impact of settings changes on overall costs
  • Baseline measurement analytics
  • Facility mapping that shows daylight harvesting usage or occupancy patterns (ala the image below)

The catch is that to use LightRules, you need to be using Digital Lumen's lighting fixtures. Aha!

The latest addition to that portfolio is a 13,000-lumen high-bay fixture that includes three dimmable LED light bars, as well as integrated sensors that let you use daylight harvesting and occupancy settings to save electricity.

Boston-based Digital Lumens focuses on industrial lighting applications for manufacturing facilities, warehouses, cold storage facilities and other buildings that use high-bay lighting. The company's technologies are used at more than 200 companies and have so far delivered $10 million in annual savings related to industrial lighting costs.
