Drobo debuts 'world's first' self-managing USB-C storage array

With USB-C gaining traction, Drobo has released the world's first self-managing USB-C storage solution called the 5C.
The Drobo 5C acts as a home for up to five 3.5-inch SATA II/III HDD and SSD storage drives. When you need more storage you either slide a new drive into a free bay, or replace an existing drive with one offering more storage.

Drobo's award-winning BeyondRAID technology allows the Drobo 5C to protect stored data without any user intervention, even in the event of multiple drive failures. It also only takes a single click to switch from single to dual disk redundancy, ensuring enterprise-level dual parity data protection when required.
In the event of drive failure, Drobo will automatically re-layout the data to return to a protected state without disruption.

The 5C features USB-C interface and is compatible with PCs and Macs. USB-C means that the Drobo 5C is compatible with both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0.
The Drobo 5C offers an average performance of 250 MB/sec, and is ideal for storing all types of data, including pictures and video.
The Drobo 5C replaces the original Drobo 4-Bay, which was first introduced 9 years ago, and is priced at $349.
