Synaptics Inc., which makes about 80 percent of the world's computer touchpads, is going to make digital signature software available to its customers.

It has inked a deal with Silanis Technology, a digital signature software company, that will let laptop users apply a single digital signature to Microsoft Word and Excel documents, the company said Tuesday.
